Storm damages power distribution system

The storm that lashed city on Sunday evening had damaged the power distribution system, leading to power breakdown in a large part of the city.

According to officials, power supply remained disrupted for more than 10 hours in many sectors and could be restored on Monday morning after the efforts of the electricity department staff.

According to an official of the electricity department, supply remained disrupted to parts of Sectors 8, 9, 10, 18, 21, 28, 30, 31, 32, 39, 48, 56 among others areas.

During the past 24 hours, the electricity department had received more than 1,250 complaints from residents from various parts, highlighting the power situation in the city.

In daily routine in summers, the department receives around 300 complaints. Due to power outage in various parts of the city, the traffic signals were also not functional leading to chaos on the roads.
