The chain hunger strike started at local Bela Chowk by various organisations to press the demand for the release of Sikhs, languishing in the jails even after completing their sentence, continued for the third day on Friday.

Five persons, including Jatinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Gajjan Singh, Gurcharan Singh and Bhupinder Singh sat on the hunger strike.

Addressing protesters, Gurmat Vichar, manch president Nirmal Singh Laudimajra, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state committee member Bhag Singh Madan, Gurmukh Singh Laungia and advocate Sukhjit Singh strongly criticised the Punjab and Central governments for their 'indifferent' attitude towards the demand.

They also urged Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to take concrete steps to ensure their immediate release. They also expressed solidarity with Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, who is on fast unto death over the issue.
