Student stabs another to death in Ambala

A class 10 student was stabbed to death by one of his school mates, police said on Wednesday.

Gursewak, 16, a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Rani Majra, were walking back home at Zaila Khurd, when Harpreet attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon.

Gursewak's cousin, Jagdeep, 17, who tried to stop Harpreet, was also injured in the incident.

Witnesses said the duo was rushed to the civil hospital where doctors pronounced Gursewak brought dead, while Jagdeep was referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and research, Chandigarh, for further treatment.

The school falls under Handesra police station on the Punjab-Haryana border.

Officials said a case has been registered and police have launched a manhunt for Harpreet who has absconded.
