Student suffers eye injury after beating by teacher

A tenth class student suffered a critical injury in his eye when he was allegedly beaten up by his teacher for remaining absent from school in Poonch district, police sources said on Tuesday.

A tenth class student suffered a critical injury in his eye when he was allegedly beaten up by his teacher for remaining absent from school , police sources said on Tuesday.


"An eye of Mohammad Yasin, a resident of Salwah in Poonch district and a tenth class student of Government High School, Salwah, was damaged on Monday when his teacher thrashed him with stick and blows," said police sources.

His eye started bleeding when a stick hit him and he was shifted to the Sub-District Hospital, Mendhar," police said, adding that the teacher named Master Ghulam Muztaba beat the victim for not attending the school for couple of days due to certain reasons.

The victim was given immediate treatment but the doctors referred him for specialised treatment due to critical injury in the eye, said police.

A case has been registered against the teacher and investigations are in progress.
