August 29 is upon us, the release day of the most awaited Punjabi film of the year, Double Di Trouble. Starring Veteran actor Dharmendra and the Punjabi heartthrob Gippy Grewal the film is showman Subhash Ghai’s first foray into the Punjabi entertainment industry. “Making a hindi film will mean trouble but making a Punjabi film will entail double the trouble” laughs Subhash Ghai, adding further, “Dharam ji (Dharmendra) and Gippy both have double roles and I enjoyed making this film. Also happy to produce a punjabi film for Punjab.”A typical family entertainment drama, it is expected to have the widest release ever for a Punjabi film.

Veteran Punjabi actor Dharmendra also makes his entry into a Punjabi film, “Subhas Ghai is like my younger brother and he directed me in Krodhi in 1981 after which we did not get a chance to work together till he decided to make a Punjabi film and that is when I received a call from him.

Ofcourse I agreed as I myself have been wanting to explore Punjabi cinema. The kind of money that has been spent on this film can be compared to the amount that is used to produce a Bollywood film so the viewers can expect production values of the same standard,” says Dharmendra.

Talking about his experience on working with Dharmendra, Gippy mentions "Apart from being a great actor he’s a human being par excellence and I’ve learnt a lot from him. It was indeed a great honour to share the screen with him in my this movie." The Carry On Jatta actor is confident his new film will set a new trend in the industry. “The film is quite different from my previous releases in this we’ve tried to introduce situational comedy in the narrative. I hope the audience appreciates this style of filmmaking”. The film also stars Gurpreet Guggi, Poonam Dhillion, Minisha Lamba and Kulraj Randhawa.
