Fast tracking the trial of murder of UT police inspector Sucha Singh in which dismissed UT constable Basant Singh alias Bunty (26) and his accomplice Sarita Rani (23) are accused, district and sessions judge SK Aggarwal on Saturday recorded the statement of six cops.
The court recorded the statements of witnesses to prove that inspector Sucha Singh, 57, was on night patrolling duty, along with home guard volunteer Jatinder Singh, on the intervening night of June 7-8 when he was done to death by Bunty.
The case would now come up for hearing on September 30.
Bunty along with his girlfriend Sarita, who is five-month pregnant, had murdered Sucha while on the run after committing a double murder in Sonepat.
The duo was to catch a bus from Sector 17 when inspector Sucha questioned them. Irked over being asked to move to police station, Bunty had attacked Sucha and stabbed him six times.
The UT police have chargesheeted the duo under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 397 (robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt).
Charges against the accused were framed on September 17.
