All airlines have rescheduled their flights from December 1 following Chandigarh airport authorities' intimation about maintenance of the runway by the Indian air force on first and third Sunday of every month after 1 pm till March 2014.
The airport was previously shut down on November 23 for two days to carry maintenance work on the runway by Airports Authority of India causing inconvenience to passengers and leaving them to the mercy of jam-packed trains and taxis.
An official of Spice Jet said, “I can't understand how the airport is taking decisions of shutting runways and rescheduling flights. This is resulting in many passengers cancelling their bookings and the airlines running into losses. The decision has been taken hurriedly and there should be some authority to look into the matter.”
The Spice Jet flight from Chandigarh to Delhi has been rescheduled to 8.35am, while the Chandigarh-Mumbai flight has been rescheduled to 12.40pm.
Similarly, the Jet Airways flight from the city to Bengaluru via Delhi will take off at 8.10 am, the Chandigarh-Delhi flight will take off at 12.10 pm, the Chandigarh-Mumbai flight will take off at 12.40 pm and the Chandigarh-Delhi flight will take off at 12.45pm.
The Indigo flight operating between Chandigarh-Mumbai will take off at 12.20pm and the Go Air flight operating between Chandigarh and Mumbai will take off at 11.15 am.
