Interacting with Hindustan Times, he also said that the bus hit an electricity poll before rolling down into the gorge. The boy who was accompanying his sisters and grandmother said that the journey for offering the prayer in ancient temple- Parshuram, started around 5 am from Saharanpur and the return journey was also scheduled on the same day.
“I immediately called my uncle, but he did not pick up phone. But, he in a few minutes called me back”, said 10- year-old Bhavika, another survivor of the mishap.
Adding further, she said that it was an awful moment for her which could not be forgotten in life. Probably, there were cylinders in the bus, but thankfully, they did not explode, she added.
Notably, the driver and conductor are absconding since the mishap.
The 10-year-old, Rajat, said that there was no electricity in the area, as the electric pole was broken after the bus hit it, affecting the rescue operations. The villagers helped us a lot, remembered the boy.
The bus was carrying 63 tourists and was on its way to Paonta Sahib from Renukaji. The local villagers had a tough time extricating three bodies from the ill-fated bus. Sources said that last body was extricated around 3am on Tuesday morning.
A headless body was recovered from the spot. As per as the information, a body without head was brought to district hospital in the night, then a search operation was launched to find the head of the body. Superintendent of police Balbir Thakur said that the head of the body was recovered in the wee hours. The body was identified as 65-year-old Kaushala Devi of Kudana village in Bhamali village of Uttar Pradesh.
