Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Bishnoi on Thursday had to 'indefinitely postpone' the induction of the veteran Congress leader Venod Sharma into his fold after the national leadership of party's alliance partner, BJP, publicly condemned the move.
Considered a close aide of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Congress legislator from Ambala City, Venod, was scheduled to address a joint press conference at Bishnoi's upscale farm house in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon.
Sharma was being tipped as the HJC candidate from Karnal parliamentary segment.
But the senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj tweeted this morning, expressing her annoyance over the proposed Bishnoi-Sharma alliance.
"I am strongly opposed to this (Venod Sharma joining HJC). I have conveyed my views to Kuldeep Bishnoi," she tweeted, while tagging a weblink of a news report (not HT) which had claimed that Sushma had played a major role behind Sharma joining the HJC.
