The local court on Monday dismissed both anticipatory bail applications of suspended inspector general of police (IGP) Gautam Cheema, who has been booked for the alleged abduction of a proclaimed offender (PO), besides for molestation.
The court will decide the bail application of Ajay Chaudhary, co-accused in both the cases, on October 10. Chaudhary had applied for bail in connection with the case of abduction of the PO.
Cheema and Chaudhary had filed an anticipatory bail application in the local court here on September 23 in connection with the two cases.
According to the court, the CCTV cameras installed at Max Hospital may tell a slightly different story, but the incident that occurred at the police station had not been caught on camera. As per that version, IG Cheema, along with his accomplice, visited the police station, where he kidnapped proclaimed offender Sumedh Gulati in order to create fear. Hence, his bail application was dismissed.
On August 31, a case of abducting a proclaimed offender had been registered against Cheema and Chaudhary. Later, Cheema was also booked for molestation charges.
