With cold conditions gripping Punjab, two more deaths have taken place due to swine flu, taking the total number of persons succumbing to the deadly viral disease to 26 in the city, officials said in Chandigarh on Monday.
Jasbir Kaur of Amargarh village in Patiala district died at PGI in Chandigarh on Monday, while Pawan Kumar from Patiala died in the wee hours, city's swine flu Nodal officer Dr G C Bansal said.
He said that six more cases with positive symptoms of swine flu were admitted to different designated hospitals in the city on Monday.
The total number of positive swine flu cases admitted to various hospitals in the city has risen to 241. A total of 12 deaths have so far been reported from various parts of Punjab due to swine flu till date, state's Nodal Officer Dr Deepak Bhatia said.
He said that the number of patients with positive symptoms in the state has gone up by 104 till date. "With temperatures going down in the region, the number of swine flu cases are likely to increase," he said adding that the situation in the region was not "alarming."
