Chandigarh Tavleen Kaur has topped in the tricity in medical stream in the Indian School Certificate (Class 12) exam, the result of which was declared on Saturday. Tavleen a student of St Xavier's School, Sector 44, scored 91.50% marks.
Loveleen Kaur topped the tricity in non-medical stream with 93.75% marks and Manav Goel stood first in the commerce stream with 94.5% from Yadavinder Public School, SAS Nagar.
Medical stream topper, who wants to be a psychiatrist
Tavleen Kaur, the topped in the medical stream in the tricity, aims to become a psychiatrist. "My maternal side has many doctors, which made to take up medical stream," she said.
Tavleen, whose father is in the navy and mother a homemaker, says his parents are her biggest strength. "I am thankful to them," said Tavleen, who had scored 92% in Class 10 and been a topper in class always.
Non-medical topper, who comes from a village
Loveleen Kaur, who topped in the non-medical stream with a score of 93.75%. A student of St Xavier's School, Sector 44, she is thankful to her parents.
"I scored 90% in Class 10 and did my schooling from Malakpur village in Ludhiana. It was a Punjab board and I managed to score well but I wanted to better than what I did and I always wanted to succeed and I know my hard work will show results," said Loveleen.
"Whatever I am is because of my parents. My father is a farmer and he has sacrificed a lot to educate me and fulfill my wishes. My parents have helped mentally and monetarily and I will always be wise daughter to them," said Loveleen while thanking her parents who were proud of her success.
"I aim to clear IIT and I plan to drop 1year for the preparation because that way I will be fully ready to ace the exams and pass with flying colors as during my schools I never concentrated on anything else and I want to achieve my aim. Village children are equally intelligent but the only problem is that they do not want to give themselves a chance so I want to ask all the students to try studying," she added.
Manav of YPS tops commerce stream in tricity
Manav Goyal of Yadavindra Public School, SAS Nagar has topped the commerce stream by getting 94.5 % in the result of Indian School Certificate (ISC) Examinations 2012, declared on Saturday. While Mallika Chahal of same school got 94.2% in same stream.
Manav, who lost his father Jiwan Goyal, during his exams did not lose his strength said, "it was traumatic and tough time for me as I lost my father on my third day of the exam. But I had promised myself, that I will not allow my father wish unfulfilled as he always wanted me to succeed, in what ever I do," he said
He added, I kept on working hard and it was an expected result .I want to do MBA from a reputed institute and join my father's business of Rice mill at Barnala.
Mannat tops humanities stream
Mannat Dhaliwal of same school topped in humanities stream by getting 89 %. Dhaliwal, who wants to become physiologist, said, "I use to study for five to six hours daily, but I am really grateful to my teachers, who helped me in studies by teaching in extra hours. Even my parents always motivated me in achieving my goal."
Her father Dilraj Singh Dhaliwal runs an immigration company in sector 24, while her mother Shalu Dhaliwal is a house wife .
While speaking to HT, the principal of the school, Janajit Ray said, "I am very happy with the result and credit of the success goes to my teachers, who really worked hard with the students to achieve their goals.
As many as 129 students of YPS, students appeared for the ICSE 2012 examination and 121 scored Ist Division marks with 73 of them securing Distinction. While in ISC, 74 students appeared and 72 candidates have secured Ist Division results.
