A local court on Friday sent the teacher of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 38-West, Dadumajra, Mukesh Kumar, booked for molestation of two female students to one-day police remand.

The court accepted the plea of the police for custodial interrogation of the accused to locate the missing mobile phone of one student apart from determining how many girls has he molested and to find the whereabouts of the co-accused in the case, Ashok Kumar, another teacher of the same school.

Victims record statement before magistrate

The four girl students on Friday recorded their statements before the magistrate.

As the statements were recorded in-camera proceedings (during which none except the magistrate and the victim are allowed), the contents could not be known.

In the complaint to the police, the victims had alleged that the teachers looked for excuses to touch them and also tried to hold their hands in class.

The accused even verbally abused them. Following repeated molestation incidents, girl students had complained to a woman teacher, but no action was taken.

‘Teachers asked me to help befriend female students’

A Class-12 male student at the school (who did not reveal his name) told mediapersons outside the court-room that Mukesh used to pressure him to introduce him (the teacher) to his female friends. He alleged that Ashok used to misbehave with female students and also claimed that there were other female students, who had been victimised, but were not speaking out of fear.

Family accuses police and dept of shielding accused

The families of the girl students have alleged that the education department and the police are shielding the accused and the delay in action allowed the accused Ashok to flee.

On August 2, the parents of the victim girls also thrashed teachers on school premises. No case was registered as the school authorities had assured that action would be action against the duo.
