Unhappy owing to the non-release of salaries and the deteriorating financial conditions of the LR Group of Institutes, employees and teachers of the educational institution staged a dharna at Tatool, Solan, on Monday.

Protestors also took out a procession against the lackadaisical attitude of the management in resolving their long-standing demands, including release of monthly salaries for the past three months.

Employees and teachers of these institutions have been demanding the release of their salaries for some time now, but the management have continuously turned its back on them.

Meanwhile, hostellers in the institutes also held a procession after the management failed to provide food and other facilities on Monday, after employees boycotted routine operations. Extending its support to protesting employees, the Central Indian Trade Union (CITU) said it would intensify the agitation if the management did not release salaries within a week.

ND Ranaut, general secretary, CITU, criticised the labour department for adopting such a lackadaisical approach towards demands of employees. Later, he also addressed protestors. Labour inspector RK Sharma, who also reached to negotiate with protestors, said despite repeated reminders, none of the management officials had turned up to resolve the issue.
