Teen booked for raping minor

A 19-year-old youth has been booked for raping a minor here on Friday. The accused has been identified as Anand, a resident of Khejari village.


Giving details, DSP (south) Surjit Malik said, “The victim's family resides in the neighbourhood of the accused. The victim is 15-year-old and is a student of government school in her locality. The accused was sexually exploiting the victim for the past few months. After the parents of the victim came to know about this, they approached the police. The medical report of the victim confirmed rape.”

The accused is still at large and the police are conducting raids at the possible whereabouts. The accused has been booked for rape (section 376) and criminal intimidation (506) under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 5 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012, at the Sector-36 police station.

In another case, the police arrested a Mansa resident for passing lewd remarks and making obscene gestures to a girl. The accused has been identified as Jagpreet Singh. The incident took place near Sector 36. The victim informed the police and the accused was nabbed.

A case of obscene acts and songs (section 294) under Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Sector-36 police station. The accused was arrested and later released on bail.
