Thaw in ties with Pakistan? Bajrangi Bhaijaan does it

Amid firing on the India-Pakistan border and bittersweet exchanges on Eid, there is heartwarming news. Three days since its release and Salman Khan-starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan has been winning hearts and smashing records in Pakistan.

With a strong Indo-Pak undercurrent, the film released to a grand opening across the border as well and is being applauded for its message of peace and how the love for children knows no borders.

As per reports on , Bajrangi Bhaijaan earned about 1.5 crore in Pakistan rupees on Eid despite being stacked against strong competition from Pakistani movies.

In fact, Sindh Censor Board chairman Fakhr-e-Alam went a step ahead and tweeted: It is the “most positive film for Pakistan that Bollywood has produced in a long time”.

A grateful Salman Khan retweeted his message within 24 minutes. Another interesting Salman tweet was: “Wld lv n respect if the leaders of Indo-Pak see Bajrangi Bhaijaan bcoz lv for children is above all boundaries @narendramodi #nawazsharif.”

Another blog post in said, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan is not an anti-Pakistan film. The filmmakers have tried to be as reasonable as possible without ruining the story. The film-makers have shown good and bad on both sides of the border. The film has touched upon the religious divide and has shown Muslims as more accommodating between both religions. What it does communicate strongly is the secular message of modern India.”
