Going a step further from traditional ways to propose his life partner, Chandigarh boy Arsh Singh, 28, arranged a flash mob at Elante Mall to woo Balraj Kaur, 27.
The out-of-the-box proposal was probably witnessed for the first time in the City Beautiful.
Starting from friendship Arsh and Balraj's relationship blossomed into love. Arsh decided to celebrate their first year of togetherness by surprising Balraj.
Thinking innovative, Arsh took to the idea of organising a flash mob to make Balraj feel special. Things were not so easy for him, and he had to do a lot of back grounding before the final take on July 20.
Doing "Flash Mob Wedding Proposal" was not easy for Arsh, who works with HCL in Noida and visits city during weekend. He chose the favourite songs of Balraj, who is a fashion designer at INIFD, Chandigarh, and made an eight-minute medley so that he too could dance along with the mob.
Finding a trope that understood his concept was another big task for Arsh, who had made rounds to many dance academics and met choreographers.
Zeroing in on the venue
Arsh had Sector 17 and Sukhan Lake on his mind, but due to the administration's rules, security reasons and keeping in mind the monsoon season, he did not want to take any chance. He chose Elante Mall, and the toughest part was to convince the management team, which took him almost three weeks. He had also arranged for bouncers to avoid any untoward incident.
Capturing the moment
Arsh hired a camera crew that shot the flash mob from different locations. He himself edited the video as did not want to miss any special moment.
The stage was set and all were waiting for Balraj. The moment she entered, she presumed that a flash mob was performing in the mall. It was only when Arsh joined the crew, she could make out what was going on. With a red rose in hand, Arsh went on his knees to woo her, followed by an engagement ring.
Arsh took Balraj's family into confidence before taking up the idea of proposing her through a flash mob. Now, they and even his family show the video to everyone who visit their house.
Friends, too, loved the idea and wished them luck. The video uploaded on YouTube has received over 300 'likes' and 17,500 'views' within three days of uploading it.
Arsh said Balraj was in tears and shivering and even today also she gets Goosebumps every time she plays the video.
"The event was hit and I am planning something big for the wedding too, he added.
