Sporting his typical retro-sexual look, complete with a moustache and raised brows strewn with a male chauvinist attitude, Punjab bred actor Jimmy Shiergill is all set to enthrall his fans as Saheb in the sequel of 2011 hit film Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster — Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns.
Still basking in the success of Akshay Kumar starrer Special 26, Jimmy says, “Special 26 is a special film. I reunited with director Neeraj Pandey for the film after A Wednesday, which again was a critically acclaimed film. My character of sub-inspector Ranveer Singh in Special 26 is very interesting — he’s a Delhi cop in the early ’80s who has many shades to his personality.”
About Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, which is set for a March release, Jimmy avers, “The film starts from where we left the first one, but it’s one of those films you can enjoy without having seen the first part also. My character of Saheb is in the wheelchair in this film, and it’s about how the Biwi takes complete charge of everything. It was a challenge for me to play a handicapped character, given that my character has been that of an authoritative man. The film takes drama, thrill and romance to a whole new level.”
On his look in the film, Jimmy says, “I have donned a royal look, complete with a Rajwada turban and royal ensembles, for a major part of the film. My look has been styled by Tigmanshu Dhulia’s wife, Tulika.”
About his other venture with director Tigmanshu Dhulia, titled Bullet Raja (starring Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha), Jimmy says, “Bullet Raja is a complete entertainer. It is about friendship, love and betrayal, with heavy doses of action.”
About doing some work closer home, Jimmy says, “My next Punjabi film as a producer and actor is Rangeelay, which releases this May. The film is a complete Punjabi masala entertainment. The film stars Neha Dhupia opposite me and I am very excited about it because I play a quintessential ‘rangeela’ character. On the posters you would see me in black and white, holding a jhanjaar in my hand, which says it all!”
As a producer, Jimmy already has three scripts in hand, says he. “I have already locked in three scripts and have signed three directors for the film but am still finalising things. I still have to decide which script to pick up first,” avers Jimmy and adds, “But, as a producer, I never interfere with the director’s vision and don’t add my creative inputs unnecessarily. I just make sure I sit with the writer and finalise things before the shoot goes on floor,” he concludes.
