Self-help books, including ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne, have propagated a new message quite contrary to how we have always been taught to be content with whatever we have. This recent belief says, “Want all you can and then see it manifest sooner or later.”
Musing on this idea, I started reminiscing my growing up years. Delving into layers of memories, an uncanny incident surfaced. I was fond of reading comic books in black and white titled ‘June and School Friend’. Many of these would weave a story around the Russian ballet ‘Swan Lake’. In those days when transistors were a thing to get excited about and television in India was unheard of, the desire of watching a live performance was just that, a wish. Years passed and my wish of seeing ‘Swan Lake’ live, which was in all honesty just a passive one, remained a wish.
A couple of years ago, we went for a vacation to London. My husband and I were visiting my son and daughter-in-law. We stayed there for a month and enjoyed London in all its glory and beauty. At one of the tube stations, there were huge posters of the ‘Swan Lake’. Hesitatingly, I asked my son if it was possible for us to watch the show, wondering about the availability of tickets and not sure how expensive it would be.
Lo and behold, my son had already arranged for the tickets and we saw the beautiful ballet in London Coliseum. What an awesome experience! The universe had granted my wish.
Another time an unbelievable incident happened, one which I would rate as one in a 10 million chance of happening. It goes like this. We do not have anyone in the army; no one from the family and not even our friends. So it was a surprise, when out of the blue, we got an invitation to spend an evening with army personnel.
The army had organised a dinner to celebrate an evening of army-civilian interaction. Not only were we invited to the event, but they were also persuasive and as a result we accepted the invite. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. A most bizarre thing happened there. A visiting brigadier, in his first trip to the city, was introduced to my husband and asked him if he knew Promil Dada. Apparently, his wife and I went to school together and she had been keenly trying to trace me for many years now. What were the chances of a meeting like this, it had never happened before and never since? We met and had a great time remembering our school days.
After that, I started taking note of the things that I had wished for and had received. I realised there were many such incidents and that this principle had existed for a long time, only, I was not aware of it.
It is weird but it almost seems like someone is listening to me. Of course, I would be stretching my imagination a bit too much if I said all my wishes have come true. But I do believe they are being processed and will be granted at an opportune time. So folks, believe me when I say, “The universe does listen.”
Try it and see if your desires manifest themselves into reality. There is one catch though, you have to wish positive, wish good and wish with faith.
