Finally after a month, police on Friday arrested three persons involved in attack on liquor vend at Phase 3A here.

Those arrested have been identified as Joginder alias Gogi, Sandeep alias Kala and Shayid, all school dropouts and in early 20s. The accused were produced before a local court on Saturday and have been sent to judicial custody.

The accused were part of a group of six youths who had attacked a liquor vend in Phase 3A on February 7 and left Amandeep alias Pahalwan, an employee of a liquor vend, injured.

The liquor vend is owned by Amarjeet Singh, brother of SAS Nagar MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu.

The police had registered a case on the complaint of Baldev Singh, an employee of the liquor vend. According to the complaint, a few residents of colony number 51 came to the vend and bought two bottles of liquor. However, when asked to pay they entered into an altercation with the liquor vend employees.

Baldev alleged that following the argument, a few of the youths entered into the vend and attempted to break open the cash box. Sensing trouble, Amandeep intervened and the youths hit his head with a soda bottle, leaving him injured. After the attack accused fled the spot.

The police had found a mobile phone from the spot.
