The police on Friday arrested three cops after an undertrial facing a theft case fled from their custody from the ISBT in Sector 43 here.

The incident occurred in the evening when assistant sub inspector Ranjeet Singh, head constable Balwinder Singh and constable Balwan Singh were returning from Nawanshahr after producing undertrial Prince Rana in a court there.

The cops also halted at Balachaur to produce Rana in a court there.

The cops and Rana got down from a bus at the ISBT in Sector 43 from where they were to take a bus to Burail. However, Rana somehow escaped from custody.

As the new reached senior police officers, the cops were put under suspension and later arrested. Rana was an accused in a case registered under Sections 223, 224 of the IPC at the Sector 36 police station.
