Those convicted are Unita alias Sapna, her brother Rajpal and their accomplice Rajan. Another accused Karamveer, husband of main accused Sapna, has been awarded three years imprisonment.
Moreover, two accused Rakesh and Harbhajan have been acquitted for lack of sufficient evidence.
The prosecution said in December 2012, Baljinder Kaur's body was recovered from the toilet of her residence in Naraingarh. She lived in the house with her minor son as her husband, who is in the army, was posted outside.
The prosecution said Sapna was known to the victim and she also knew that the victim possessed enough jewellery. Sapna hatched a conspiracy with others to loot her when she was alone in the house.
Baljinder was stabbed several times with sharp-edged weapons before she was dumped in the toilet.
During investigation, the Naraingarh police had arrested six persons and booked them on the charge of murder.
The prosecution said at the instance of the accused, jewellery worth over `95,000 was recovered from a jeweller in Ludhiana which the accused had sold him.
Jeweller Pritam Singh was also produced in the court as a witness and the deceased's minor son also deposed in the court that Sapana used to enquire from him about the whereabouts of his mother and other family members.
