Three held for misbehaving with cop

Three persons were arrested for misbehaving with a cop and obstructing him from performing his duty outside a pub in Sector 17 on Monday.

Giving details, the police said three persons identified as Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Mauli Jagran, Navneet Singh of Sector 26, Panchkula, and Mohit Kumar of Bapu Dham Colony were arrested following the complaint by a Chandigarh police constable. Police said constable Muni Ram complained that three misbehaved with him outside the pub, Buzz.

Constable Muni Ram, who on night duty at the Neelam Police Post, Sector 17, had received information that some youth were fighting outside the pub. The constable, along with a home guard volunteer, reached and tried to pacify them.

Three youngsters, who were in inebriated condition, started thrashing the constable and even tore his uniform.

The accused have been arrested under sections 160 (punishment for committing affray), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
