A tempo carrying about 20 pilgrims was on its way from Khanna in Punjab to Mata Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh when the mishap took place late last night, police said today.

The tempo overturned killing three persons on the spot while several others were injured and admitted to civil hospital here, they said.
The deceased have been identified as Hardip Singh, Chamkaur Singh and Tara. They all belonged to Nanakgarh Jageda village near Khanna in Ludhiana district.
The truck driver fled leaving truck on the spot, police said.
