The police have managed to arrest the remaining three accused wanted in the road rage incident that occurred on the road dividing Sectors 7 and 8 on Wednesday evening.
Five youngsters, including a student of Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, had entered into a verbal spat with Tarsem Lal, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, who was driving a Bolero pick up van, after the latter allegedly hit their car.
Of them, two youths took away Lal’s pick-up van, but were later nabbed at the barrier in Sector 47 within 20 minutes and the vehicle was recovered from their possession.
Lal had alleged that before snatching his vehicle, the youths had stopped him in the middle of the road and thrashed him badly.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (east) Parminder Singh said those arrested on Thursday had been identified as Laddi, Malkit and Goldy. While Malkit works at a call centre, the other two are jobless.
Those arrested on Wednesday are Jasmeet and Manpreet, residents of SAS Nagar. Jasmeet is pursuing MSc from Karnataka University and Manpreet is a student of civil engineering at the LPU. All accused are aged between 20 and 25. They have been booked under sections 395 (dacoity), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
