Three robbers awarded 10-year jail

Additional district and sessions judge Jaswinder Sheemar on Tuesday awarded 10-year jail to three robbers after holding them guilty of theft at a house. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 8,000 on the convicts, identified as Ashok Nath, Manak Nath and Vijay Nath, residents of Ambala.

It was on the night of June 4, 2011, when the convicts entered a house in Kurli village in Lalru.

There they assaulted an asleep couple with logs and rods and robbed them of gold and silver ornaments before fleeing the spot.

The jewellery was recovered from them after their arrest.

The court convicted the accused under sections 458 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint), 459 (grievous hurt caused whilst committing lurking house trespass or house-breaking), 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC.

The trio is already serving time in Ambala jail for a dacoity in Naraingarh in Haryana.
