For the benefit of tourists, the UT administration has decided to set up a tourism kiosk at the Capitol Complex, Sector 1.
Tourists visiting the Capitol Complex have to take permission, which at present is issued from the UT secretariat. For the convenience of tourists, the tourism department will deploy staff at the kiosk for issuing the passes.
Giving details, UT finance secretary VK Singh said majority of people were not even aware from where the pass was issued. He further said that the decision was for facilitating tourists.
Designed by Le Corbusier, Capitol Complex has three main buildings namely secretariat, legislative assembly and high court.
The administration is also going to approach the Punjab and Haryana government for relaxations in security at the Capitol Complex. At present, most of the area in Capitol Complex is under heavy security, thus making it unfriendly for tourists.
Earlier, while applying for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) heritage status, the administration had listed Capitol Complex as one of the most prominent area of the city.
