Tractor-trailer driver killed in bid to save cyclist

In a tragic incident, the driver of a tractor-trailer got crushed under the vehicle’s rear tyres, while his friend sustained severe injuries after the former lost control of the vehicle in a bid to save a cyclist near Lalru on Ambala-Chandigarh Highway on Sunday evening. The deceased has been identified as Devinder Kumar, 42, a resident of Indira Colony, Manimajra.

Lalru SHO Atul Soni said Devinder and his friend, Babu Ram, were returning from Pehowa in Kurukshetra. Around 4.30pm, when they reached Lalru, a cyclist suddenly appeared before the tractor. To save the cyclist, Devinder lost control of the vehicles and the tractor hit the iron grills on roadside, throwing Devinder and Babu on the road, before Devinder got crushed under the rear wheels.
