Three unidentified motorcycle-borne youths fired bullets at a trader leaving him injured at Dharm market near Silani gate of Jhajjar on Saturday evening.

The victim has been identified Raju, a resident of Jhajjar town, who runs a mobile shop in the town.

As per details, three youths wearing masks came on a motorcycle and shot Raju in head, back and right arm.

As soon as other shopkeepers tried to intervene, the accused fled the spot and left their motorcycle behind.

Thereafter, the police were informed.

As a mark of protest, shopkeepers of the town had closed their shops alleging that the police had failed to provide them a safe environment.

A shopkeeper said: "The three accused came in the daylight and fired at Raju in the main market. This shows that the criminals are roaming fearlessly."

The Jhajjar police have registered a case against unidentified persons and started investigation.

The victim was first taken to the civil hospital in Jhajjar, but was referred to PGIMS, Rohtak, under critical condition.
