The first spell of dense fog for this season was recorded on Wednesday morning. According to a weather bulletin released by the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, the dense fog - which occurred during to the passing of Western Disturbances - reduced the visibility to less than 100m.
The Chandig arh Meteorological Centre has predicted that the sky will be partly cloudy with fog occurring during the morning and night for the next two days. The temperature will start increasing and there will be shallow fog Saturday onwards.
However, on Wednesday, the maximum temperature was 18.2 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 6.8 degree Celsius. In the next two days, the maximum temperature is likely to be 19 degree Celsius and the minimum is expected to be 6 degree Celsius.
As all flights of SpiceJet remained suspended throughout the day, the Delhi-Chandigarh flight was also cancelled.
The airlines resumed its operations after 4 pm. Two other flights - Air India flying between Mumbai to Chandigarh, via Delhi. This was delayed by three hours. The Jet Airways flight between Mumbai and Chandigarh - was delayed by one hour.
The Bandra- Chandigarh Express was running an hour behind schedule, while the Howrah-Chandigarh Express was late by two hours.
