Monday, May 19

Three-day theatre fest begins

The Mask Theatre supported by the Union ministry of culture will organise a three-day theatre festival 'Bal Katha Manchan', which is based on folktales, at Punjab Kala Bhawan Auditorium. The fest opens with the staging of ' Doh Dantt Kathayein', by student artistes of Sri Guru Harkishan Senior Secondary School, Sector 38. Ravinder Kumar will direct the play. The play will begin at 7.00pm.

Photography exhibition

St John's High School will organise a photography exhibition 'Reflexiones Del Alma' (the reflections of the soul) on the school premises. Anjitha Chepyala DSP East, Chandigarh, will be the chief guest. The exhibition will be open from 11am.

Tuesday, May 20

Enactment of 'Kahaniyan with Naaniyan'

A play called 'Kahaniyan with Naaniyan' to be staged by students Aurobindo School-27 at Punjab Kala Bhawan. Directed by Vijay Machal and Abhimanya, the play will commence at 7pm. The play will commence at 7pm at Punjab Kala Bhawan.

Wednesday, May 21

Kings XI plays against Mumbai Indians

A T20 IPL 2014 cricket match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians will be played at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (PCA), SAS Nagar. The match will begin at 8pm.

Theatre festival concludes

The 'Bal Katha Manchan' festival will conclude with the play 'Betal Batisee'. The play will be staged by students of Gurukul Global School, Manimajra and will begin at 7pm at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16.

Chandigarh police to organise self-defence classes

The Chandigarh Police are organising a self-defence training for the women of Chandigarh at Multipurpose Hall, Sector 26. The first batch of the 15-day course will be held from May 21 to June 5 from 7am to 9am and another batch from 5pm to 7pm every day.

Thursday, May 22

French play performance

Ama Yur, a theatre group formed by 12 JNU students and a French teacher Julie David will present their last production of the year 'Plume' at Alliance Francaise De Chandigarh. This play, which will be in French, English as well as in Hindi, will commence at 7.15pm and is based on various texts of Henri Michaux, a known poet from Belgium.

Kings XI Punjab versus Rajasthan Royals
Kings XI Punjab will play against Rajasthan Royals at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (PCA), SAS Nagar. The match will start at 8 pm.

Saturday, May 24

Play performance

Ambala-based cultural organisation 'Sanskriti' will stage a ballet 'Kanha Katha' with over 50 dancers under the direction of Shabnam Nath. The performance will be held at Vivek High School, Sector 38, at 6.30pm.

Sunday, May 25

Kings XI face off with Delhi Daredevils

Kings XI Punjab will face Delhi Daredevils at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (PCA), Mohali. The match is schedule to start at 4 pm.

PU senate meeting

Panjab University senate will hold a crucial meet on Sunday to discuss the introduction of semester system in undergraduate courses in PU-affiliated colleges Punjab and Chandigarh from 2014-15. The senate will also discuss the proposed 20% fee hike in PU affiliated colleges and 5 percent fee hike in all courses conducted on the Panjab University campus.

Ghazal programme at Punjab Kala Bhawan

Under the 'Weekend Peshkari' the Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi will hold a ghazal programme by Ludhiana-based singer Ranbir Kanwal at Punjab Kala Bhavan open air theatre from 7.00pm.
