Highlight Story

Be prepared. Be very prepared. Tristan Garner will rock you. Being party to a live set by the French DJ is liberating. His free spirit and skills on the turntables are intoxicating. Tristan was born to perform and bring happiness to the people on this planet through his music.

His energy is infectious and his tracks take you on an exciting electronic dance music (EDM) journey - unleashing electronic mayhem and provoking everyone on the dance floor to jump and fiercely pump their fists in the air.

The Nice native, now settled in Paris, is said to be one of the most talented DJ/producers of the new French generation, and after hearing his set in Chandigarh on Friday night, I couldn't agree more. He played in the city for the first time at The Blue Blazer (Sector 26) for the Sunburn Noida pre-party in association with the Red Bull Flight Club.

And, Tristan Garner owned the night. How he got the inhibited tricity crowd to flock to the dance floor and lose themselves in the music was a sight in itself. Taking control of the crowd, he had partygoers eating out of the palm of his hand. A highlight of the night was when he spontaneously jumped up onto the console table in true rock-star style and shouted out - 'I love you India!'

His tracks - which range from trance, electro and progressive house to his forte, electro rock - are power-packed. He got the people of Chandigarh so wound up that the DJ, who is currently on his fourth India tour, had to be escorted out by security after his set to avoid being swarmed by the crowd.

Who is Tristan Garner?

Tristan, 27, who has a background in classical music, found his calling in electronic dance music and started producing and DJing. His career took off in 2007 when he released the track, Give Love (featuring Akil Wingate and remixed by Arias and Jerome Isma-Ae), which garnered global
popularity and in 2008, was signed to labels all over the world. Some of his other hits include Freedom, Caribe and Last Forever with Norman Doray featuring Errol Reid. His favourite
collaboration till date is that with Armin Van Buuren for the track, Feel So Good.

Tristan plays at some of the globe's hottest spots and events including Amnesia, Ibiza, Pop Plage, Noumea, Goa Beach and for We Are Family, Moscow. On September 15, he played at Techno Parade in Paris, one of Europe's biggest EDM fests, which saw hundreds of thousands of people take to the streets of Paris.

"Being a DJ is a dream job. In fact, it doesn't even feel like a job. Everyday, I wake up in a new city. I love touring and meeting new people. Each day offers something fresh and exciting," beams the lean mean music-making machine.

Next up

These days, he is working on his first studio album under his label, Xtra Life Records, which he plans to release by next summer. He shares, "I'm taking my time on it as I want it to be really unique. I'm putting my all into this album. I want it to be huge like a Michael Jackson record - something that will go down in history."

His first EP called Digital Rocker - a mix between electro and rock - will release in three weeks and be available online on portals such as iTunes and Beatport.
