Police have arrested two men, allegedly involved in murder of a 35-year-old security guard. The accused have been identified as Bachan Singh, who was a councillor in 1997 from ward number 10 and Praladh Tiwari. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to arrest the remaining two accused.
The 35-year-old resident of Faiydan village, Rajeev Bhatia was murdered following heated arguments when they were playing cards as gambling game and they had entered into altercation on the pretext of getting money from each other over the game.
The victim Rajeev Bhatia, who was working as a private security guard in a Mohali-based warehouse was stabbed to death with a sharp-edged weapon.
The police said that the incident took place at around 8.30pm, when the victim Rajeev (victim) was playing with them in the village.
Sector 31 SHO Bhupinder Singh said that while playing cards, he entered into an argument with the three who initially thrashed him and later one of them stabbed him with a knife on his chest. He said that that the trio were drunk.
The onlookers informed the police about the incident. The police team reached the spot and rushed the victim to Government Medical College and Hospital Sector-32, where doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival.
The local police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.
