Police have booked two brothers of Nangal Faizgarh in Kharar sub- division of SAS Nagar on charge of murdering a youth from their village by pushed him in front of a unidentified speeding vehicle following a minor argument.

Police booked Amanpreet Singh and his brother Paramjeet Singh after Iqbal Singh of Nangal Faizgarh accused them of murdering his 21-year-old son Harinder Singh.

In his police statement, Iqbal Singh claimed that Amanpreet took away Harinder on his motorbike on March 26 even though his son was unwilling to accompany him. The complainant said that Amanpreet took his son to a liquor vend near Jhanjeri village, where both consumed liquor and entered into an argument.

Iqbal Singh alleged that Amanpreet pushed his son in front of a speeding vehicle, injuring Harinder. Amanpreet then called his brother Paramjeet to the spot and put an injured Harinder in a car driven by Paramjeet. The complainant alleged that instead of taking Harinder to a hospital, both the accused kept driving around till Harinder died. Iqbal Singh claimed that the accused then took his son to the civil hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“On the complaint of the deceased's father Iqbal Singh, we have booked Amanpreet and Paramjeet for murder. Amanpreet has been arrested and remanded to two-day police custody,” said Kharar SHO Manjeet Singh.

Sources said that Amanpreet denied all allegations and claimed during his preliminary questioning that he and Harinder consumed liquor at the vend, after which a drunk Harinder walked towards the road where he was hit by a speeding vehicle.

“I pleaded with people gathered at the spot to help me take him to hospital but no one came forward to help. I called up my brother Paramjeet. We then put Harinder in the car and took him to a hospital in Sohana where he was declared brought dead,” Amanpreet is said to have told police.
