Two days on, police clueless on carjackers’ whereabouts

Two days since the car of St Soldier School director was robbed at gun point by a group of miscreants from Sector 48, the police have failed to nab the accused. The case has now been transferred to the crime branch.

The police are now procuring data on mobile numbers which were used at the time of incident. The police, as of now, have been clueless about the accused.

Sources in the police said a dump data of the mobile numbers has been procured. Police are also trying to check the records of the two mobile phones of the victim, which were snatched by the accused robbers. The police will also get dump data on numbers functional in Dera Bassi near Chat village.

The victim, Karandeep Singh, was abducted, thrashed and pushed from a moving car by a group of unknown persons on Saturday night. Karandeep, owner of the St Soldier School at Phase 7, SAS Nagar was on his way back home after a regular walk from the Sector 48 park, towards his house in Sector 33 in his car. The victim said he was attacked abruptly by four unknown robbers who abducted him and robbed away his car on gun point.

In July last year, the undersecretary of Haryana law department was allegedly abducted, thrashed and thrown from a moving car by a group of unknown persons near Sector 43 bus stand. The Chandigarh police have been unable to solve the case till date.

July 13: In a daylight dacoity at Rajat Jewellers in Sector 5, Mansa Devi Complex (MDC), the accused took away a car of the owners, after looting them of Rs 1.53 crore woth of jewellery. The car was later recovered in Zirakpur.
Status: Unsloved

September 18: A truck carrying 600 cartons of Bournvita was looted at Pinjore. The driver was alone when targeted. They were posing as government officials and tied up the driver in a forest, thrashed him and fled with the truck.
Status: Solved

September 20: Three unidentified persons robbed a car from a couple on gunpoint in Phase 5 and fired before leaving the place.

October 6: Car snatched at Zirakpur- Patiala highway. Gang of snatchers approached the car driver and started abusing, forcing him to step out. The gang then took away the car.
Status: Case under investigation.

October 2: Four men carjack at Mullanpur-Baddi road. They rammed their vehicle into the victim's car and snatched it after flashing a pistol.
Status: Police have failed to arrest the robbers even after identification.

October 2: A car was snatched after robbers entered into an argument with the victim who was sitting in his car after parking it on roadside. They drove away after making him step out of the car.
Status: Police yet to trace the miscreants.

January 8: A car was snatched from Phase 7, SAS Nagar from two students of Class 11 by two armed-men. Miscreants had taken along the students and pushed them out of the car at Nabha in Punjab. The car was later traced by the Barnala Police.
Status: Case was solved.

January 15: Miscreants fled with Innova at a busy Kharar-Landran road, after three assailants opened fire.
Status: The case is yet to be cracked.
