Two drunken youth rescued out of canal in Karnal

Two drunken youths from a village near Nilokheri had a miraculous escape after they were rescued out of their car that had slipped into a canal near national highway 1, here on Tuesday evening.


The youth have been identified as Gulab Singh and his brother-in-law Chhotu from Pakhana village in Karnal.

A police team led by Shri Dutt, station house officer of the Sadar police station, reached the spot after receiving the information.

Dutta said the duo was consuming liquor on the banks of a canal near GT Road and while they tried to drive away, their car slipped into the canal.

He said the car might have got stuck on the bank for sometime before it got submerged into it.

Villagers and other passersby took note of the incident and took them out.

But finding themselves on the wrong foot, the duo ran away, leaving behind their car in the canal.
