Three persons including a woman sarpanch sustained injuries during a clash between two families in Jawaharpur village here on Monday night.

The injured were admitted at the Dera Bassi civil hospital. The police booked over a dozen people including two women in a cross FIR.

According to reports, sarpanch Bindu, wife of Kulwinder Singh and Kulwinder's younger brother Arvinder Singh alleged that their neighbours' family of Bhag Singh attacked their house following an old enmity over elections. The family claimed the neighbours' were bitter as they had lost the sarpanch elections recently. They used batons and rods in the attack, alleged the sarpanch's family.

Whereas, Bhag Singh said his son had also sustained injuries in the clash and alleged that the sarpanch and her family were using the common path which was disputed earlier. After the verdict of the court in their favour, he had installed a gate but Kulwinder and his family members had been opposing it and continued to use the path, following which the clash took place.

The police registered a cross FIR against 12 people including Bhag Singh, his sons Harvinder, Hardip, Jaspreet, Sheela, Gurmeet Kaur and their unidentified accomplices.
