Two minor girls rescued from 2 houses in P'kula

Police along with a team of district child welfare department rescued two minor girls who were working as domestic helps in two houses in Panchkula. Police are investigating it as a suspect case of human trafficking.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint team conducted raids at a house in Sector 6 and Sector 9 and recovered two 11-year-old girls, who were working there as domestic helps.

The victim alleged that they were mistreated by their employers and told police that they belong to Sri Lanka and were brought by their aunty along with other girls to work as domestic helps. The victims, who are converse in Hindi, have been shifted to Bal Sadan in Sector 12.

Deputy commissioner of police Hamid Akhtar said they have asked assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Dalip Kumar to probe into the human trafficking angle. "Based on the statement of the minor girls, we have asked the ACP to investigate the matter and take appropriate action if anyone is found guilty,"said Akhtar.
