City police arrested two persons for possessing illegal weapons at Phase 3B2 market on Thursday.
According to the information, during checking at Phase 3B2 market, the police recovered two revolvers and three riffles from five persons seated in a car. However, they had licences of three weapons but two weapons were without licence.
Gurpreet Singh of Hoshiarpur and Amarpreet Singh of Kapurthala have been arrested while Sandeep Singh, Manpreet Singh and Navdeep Singh of Kapurthala have been booked under Section 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence) of the Indian Penal Code and Gurpreet and Amarpreet were also booked under Section 25/54/59 of the Arms Act.
Police sources revealed that when the police asked them about the weapons, the accused disclosed that they had come to the city for shooting a video of some song.
They were sitting in the market, when police searched them on suspicion.
Mataur station house officer (SHO) Rajiv Kumar said that three of them had licences of two revolvers and one riffle, whereas the police seized other two weapons, both 12 boreriffles.
