A local court on Saturday acquitted two persons from Moga who were booked for carrying heroin after the prosecution failed to prove its allegations.

Jograj and Gursharan were arrested on December 28, 2012. The police claimed that it had recovered 850 grams of heroin from Jograj.

"There were contradictions in the witnesses' statements. The police had failed to follow the laid down procedure under the NDPS Act while booking and arresting them," said defence counsel Gagan Aggarwal said.
