A resident of Sonepat in Haryana was arrested for impersonating during a staff selection examination at Government High School in Sector 24 on Sunday. The accused was identified as Parneet Bhasin and was appearing in place of one Tushar Kukreja, also a resident of Sonepat.
Police said Bhasin had come to appear in the examination of tier 1 of the Combined Graduate Level Exam of Staff Selection Commission. The invigilator got suspicious of Bhasin after his picture did not match with the one pasted on the roll number and informed the police.
During questioning, Bhasin disclosed the name of the candidate who was to originally appear in the examination. Kukreja was waiting for Bhasin outside the school and was also arrested.
A case under sections 419 (punishment for cheating by impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC was registered against Bhasin and Kukreja at the Sector 11 police station. Both accused were sent to judicial custody by the local court.
In April, six persons were arrested held for impersonation during the staff selection commission examinations. The kingpin of the racket, Rajesh Kumar, was also arrested. All impersonators were from Haryana.
