Nearly two weeks after solemnising marriage for the third time, a 35-year-old physical trainer allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Sector 10 here on Friday night.
According to the police, Manish Gill got married for third time only 17 days ago. His wife Neha was inconsolable at the mortuary of Sector 6-based general hospital. She told the police that they had dinner last night and went to sleep, only to find her husband dead on Saturday morning. She said she was not aware what prompted her husband to take the extreme step.
Station house officer of Sector 5 police station inspector Lalit Kumar said Manish consumed liquor and kept watching TV till 2am, before he went to sleep in a separate room. "On Saturday morning, his wife found the door of Manish's room locked from inside and when he didn't respond to knocking at the door, she called her father-in-law Mahesh Gill from downstairs. The family broke open the door and found Manish dead by the side of the bed," he said.
A piece of cloth could be seen wrapped around his neck and half of which was hanging from the ceiling fan in the room. The police said that the cloth Manish had used to hang himself gave in under his weight.
The cause of death, however, is yet to be ascertained.
Washerman ends life
In another suicide, a washerman, identified as Daroga who was in his mid-thirties, committed suicide in Sector 21 here on Friday night. He hanged himself with the sari of his wife from a hook in the bathroom of his house.
Hailing from Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, he is survived by wife and six daughters. According to the police, Daroga was upset over not having a son.
