Following the unrelenting nuisance created by peon cum watchman posted at Government Senior Secondary School at Marodhi village, 7 kms from here, residents of the village locked the school for three hours on Thursday.

A group led by village sarpanch Ravinder Balhara reached school and locked the main gate, thus keeping the principal, teachers and students outside the school. Villagers demanded action against Rajbir Singh, the peon cum watchman, who has been posted at school for last one decade.

Talking to Hindustan Times over phone, village sarpanch Ravinder Balhara claimed that the erring employee is a drunkard who is always remain in inebriated condition. Balhara said that he (Rajbir Singh) abuses teachers, misbehave with students, and doesn't listen to anybody despite several warning.

School principal Sunita Devi told HT that Singh had been suspended twice in the past for the same reason, but he later joined the job without mending his ways. She said, "Students as well as the teachers are fed up of him, and academic atmosphere of school has been hit by his abusive language and foul behaviour".

While district education officer Jagvir Malik said that villagers and students have filed a written complaint, following which he will be transferred.
