Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib Constituency Ambika Soni on Friday claimed that the UPA government had fulfilled the promises made with the people.
“We promised ‘One Rank One Pension’ which is now a reality; we promised Right to Education, we delivered. We promised Food Security Bill and we delivered again. So when we say we will provide 10 crore jobs for the youth in the next five years, we will achieve that,” Soni said while addressing rallies at Bharatgarh, Kahiwal, Mehan, Brahampura and Nangal on Friday.
She alleged that the SAD-BJP government in Punjab had failed to fulfill the promises made with the people. “Farmers were promised to be given barbwire at subsidised rates to protect their crops from wild animals. But it was not fulfilled. Widow and old age pension were promised to be Rs 500 instead of Rs 250 but even Rs 250 is not being given now. The SADBJP government promised to bring industry but the existing ones are closing down,” Soni said.
Former member of legislative assembly (MLA) Rana KP Singh also spoke on the occasion.
