Using hop-on hop-off bus poll dept spreads message to vote

Decorated with banners having slogans on voter awareness and ferrying artistes and students in the age group of 18 and above singing patriot numbers, the election department on Saturday took to tourism department’s hop-on hop-off bus to create awareness among voters.

The bus made rounds in different parts of city, including Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Capital Complex, Rose Garden, outside PGIMER and Sector 17.

Artistes performed on various patriot songs along with slogans regarding vote power and requested the visitors and daily walkers at the lake and other major spots to cast their vote on April 10.

In addition to that, the election department also organised plays with the help of an NGO at Indira Colony and Manimajra Market to create awareness regarding free and fair voting.

Further, the department also created awareness of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and none of the above (NOTA) button to the voters of Bapu Dham colony.

As part of voter awareness programme, the election department has displayed an air balloon in Matka Chowk carrying slogan “Your Vote is Your Voice” and “Vote on 10th April”.

The election department will hold a cycle rally in association with an NGO at 6.30am at Sukhna Lake on Sunday to create awareness among morning walkers.

Joining hands with the Chandigarh election department, 31 hotels and 41resturants have agreed to offer one-time discount of 30% to voters.
Such schemes have become a routine in the city’s bid to involve more voters.
