UT adviser Vijay Kumar Dev on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the Whistling Pines Park, a 4600 sq m state-of-the-art botanical garden situated between Aravli and Vindhya Hostels of the PEC University of Technology.
Dev was accompanied by Som Mittal, chairman of the board of governors of PEC.
Whistling Pines Park will feature perimeter of grilled fencing, walk ways, sprinkle irrigation system and lightning systems.
Dr Manoj K Arora, director, PEC, who was also present on the occasion informed the adviser about other planned improvements in infrastructure in the campus in the near future.
He said PEC also plans to add a 1000-seat auditorium, an open-air theatre, and a multi-purpose sports facility to its repertoire.
Arora said the varsity will also enhance its hostel capacity to cater to the increasing number of students.
The adviser also inaugurated a 100-terminal computer cluster in the institute's computer centre.
To celebrate Van Mahoutsav, the NSS Unit of PEC also launched a tree-plantation drive under which 300 saplings were planted in the campus.
