Shrishti Asthana, a Class 12 student of Sri Guruharkishan Das Model Senior Secondary School, has been selected as one of the 90 finalists for Google Science Fair 2014.
She was selected on the basis of her project ‘Developing Arginine as Inhibitor of Alpha-Synuclein Aggregation-Innovative Therapy to Combat Parkinson’s Disease’.
Her project has been selected from among thousands of entries submitted from around the world.
Google, the US, has also announced this on their social channels and are showcasing the project on their website homepage.
Every year 90 finalists are selected, 30 each from Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. These 90 compete to secure a place in 15 global finalists.
Shrishti is the only Indian student, who has been selected in 17-18 age categories.
She has been invited to Google office in Hyderabad for the final round on August 8.
Last year too, she was one of the 15 Google global finalists and only one from India for her project ‘Solar Light Assisted NanoZnO Photocatalytic Mineralization-a Green Technique for the Treatment of Detergent Water’.
