VB nabs forest officer for accepting bribe

The Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) has nabbed a block forest officer red-handed while he was taking Rs 8,000 bribe money near Ludhiana.

The Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) has nabbed a block forest officer red-handed while he was taking Rs 8,000 bribe money near Ludhiana.


Gurdas Singh, posted at Ropar district forest office, has been arrested in a trap that was laid following a complaint against him, a VB spokesman here said.

Shamsher Singh of Jhakian village in Rupnagar district had approached the VB with the complaint that the officer was asking Rs 10,000 bribe to permit him to extract earth for levelling his plot.

Gurdas has been arrested under sections 7, 13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the case was registered at the VB police station, Ludhiana.
