During the next two days, vendors can submit their bids to government schools in the city for the supply of navy blue jerseys. The bids should be submitted at the common venue (Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, Chandigarh) before October 9.
The UT (union territory) education department had set up the common venue so that vendors did not have to visit each school to submit bids.
As the process of buying uniforms as well as woolens has been streamlined, schools in the city believe there would be no dearth of suppliers.
Schools could not purchase winter uniforms on time last year but things have fared better so far, says a government school head, on condition of anonymity.
In Chandigarh, more than one lakh students are eligible for free school uniforms under the Right to Education Act.
The UT administration and the central government have contributed for providing free uniform to students.
Woolen jerseys for junior classes will be priced at rs450 per piece and rs550 per piece for senior classes.
