In the Punjab assembly session that begins on Monday, the opposition Congress will seek explanation from the government on politicians' reported links with the drug mafia and the incomplete investigation into illegal panchayat-land deals.

The session that will open with the governor's address to the House will include a vote on account that finance minister Parminder Dhindsa will present in place of a full-fledged budget for the financial year 2014-15. "(Highlighting) the drug issue is on our priority," leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar said here on Sunday, adding that the Congress would also demand a white paper on the state's industrial scenario. He hoped for a peaceful session, if the treasury benches allowed the members to highlight the "crucial issues concerning the people of the state".

"The government also ought to explain the outcome of the recent investment and agriculture summits amid contradictions that emerged, especially during the agriculture summit," said Jakhar. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will meet on Monday before the session that begins at 2pm.

The Vidhan Sabha business advisory committee (BAC) is yet to finalise the schedule of the session that will continue till March 11.
